I like my martinis shaken, not stirred. I embody an aura of adventure and intrigue; a stirred martini is just not becoming. Too cautious, too methodical. I’m a bon vivant and an international man of mystery, not an accountant.
That being said, and this may come as a surprise, when it comes to the free world’s security, I see things a bit differently. Diligence, determination and caution are required to properly assess security threats and prevent future attacks . Put simply: the “shaken approach” will not work. While the threats we face are significant, they are not insurmountable. But, left ignored, will spell the end of mankind as we know it.
Cyber-terrorism, cyber-espionage, artificial intelligence, freedom-hating militant Islam, climate change and China are but just a few of the threats we face. You can ask me later why I don’t think Russia or Putin are a threat. In fact, Russia and Putin have the potential to be a key ally in the fight against our mutual threats. But, this is fodder for another post.
Whilst I spend most of my days now at my chalet in Gstaad or gaming, sipping martinis and chasing tart at the Monte Carlo, the security of the free world is still my priority. Our future depends on it!
